Architecture Precedent: Heatherwick studio

This fabulous building in Guys Hospital, London is an extension and conversion of the boiler house. The woven steel material allows the building to exhale the steam that rises. Heatherwick wanted to give the appearance of a solid material but keeping the function of being able to breath. It works very much like a birds nest, or indeed wattle and daub the tudor-building technique.
